For people interested in consumption, I think there’s lots of interesting work yet to be done on how important these sorts of exhibitions were in influencing consumption policy in both capitalist and socialist countries throughout the twentieth century. Jukka Gronow’s book “Caviar and Champagne” opens with a good example of this if I remember correctly. Thanks for posting this as I hadn’t known about the symposium but will now go and register!
